Turbulent Times Require Foundational Faith

The five solas articulated five fundamental beliefs of the Protestant Reformation, pillars which the Reformers believed to be essentials of the Christian life and practice. All five implicitly rejected or countered the teachings of the then-dominant Catholic Church, which had in the reformers’ mind usurped divine attributes or qualities for the Church and its hierarchy, especially its head, the pope.

The main sola I’m looking into right now is sola scriptura.

“the Bible does not stand alone apart from God, but rather that it is the instrument of God by which he reveals himself for salvation through faith in Christ”

Therefore God speaks to me, he reveals to me, directly, through the Bible. Key word: directly.

Began looking into this after speaking with Joe Hong, Eddie Sah, And Young Kim. All married men in my church who found answers thru the Bible. They haven had direct voice from God either.

Interesting.

Talk with Elias and prayer with him over the phone. We both have had breaking moments in the last couple of weeks. He was in fact happy and encouraged that I’ve been broken and have repented. Told me not to solely seek out a voice of God but to spend time reading the Word carefully and receptively… Sola Scriptural.

Relying via voice alone can be extremely dangerous and has led to cults and false teachings due to those who claimed to hear voices in their head.

Elias referred to a sermon given by Paul washer. Would like to listen to this after my exam.

I wish I could focus on my exam.. But this is more important at the moment. Will have to fully rely on God come Saturday. Im also feeling as I read that law may not be my calling. Main reason I’m doing this is to make my grandfather happy. He wanted for me to become a doctor and I failed him there. Second he wanted me to become a lawyer. This may not be my calling, but I will persevere and take the exam relying to Gods will. I want to make my grandfather happy as well. Let him know I at least tried for him.

Back to studying.

If you follow me, please pray that I continue to pursue God. That I mature and grow in Him and that I’m able to discern and gain wisdom from His Word as I immerse myself in the bible. Understand Gods will for me, and to live it out. Amen to that!

Edit 12:32am
In my study of Judges I find confirmation in my solace with sola scriptura in the example of Gideon.
Judges 6:37-39 when he tests God.

Demanding extra signs was an indication of disbelief. Fear often makes us wait for more confirmation when we should be taking action. Visible signs are unnecessary if they only confirm what we already know is true. Today, the greatest means of Gods guidance is his Word the bible. Unlike Gideon we have Gods complete, revealed Word. If you want to have more of Gods guidance, don’t ask for signs; study the Bible.
